Artists Statement

While growing up in the Low Country of South Carolina, Lori Abrams Rauchwerger acquired a love and appreciation for dogs that carried over into her art which she developed studying 8 years with the renowned E.M. Cory of Savannah.

Lori’s oil of 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, titled, "Kings of their Domain" has been exhibited in The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, Missouri.

Lori won the Peoples Choice Award in both 2000 and 2002 at the prestigious National Juried Canine Fine Art Exhibition, " The Art Show at The Dog Show ", held annually in Wichita, Kansas.   She was also invited to exhibit with the St.Louis Artist’s Guild at their " It’s Reigning Cats & Dogs " exhibition in 2001.

Lori was featured on the television magazine “Oklahoma Living” hosted by Karen Keith. Lori's paintings have been featured on television and in newspapers for various charity events.   In 1998 the Tulsa Chapter of the American Red Cross held an exhibition of her work which showcased Search and Rescue dogs from Tulsa who helped in the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Lori is on The Artist Registry of the American Kennel Club’s Museum of the Dog in St. Louis, Missouri.   Lori’s canine, Equine, and Portraits of Humankind can be found in Private & Corporate collections from New York City to Washington D.C., North & South Carolina, Missouri, Arkansas, Texas, Colorado, and of course, Oklahoma.

Lori accepts commissions for her portraiture in Oil & Pastel for of all types of animals, humans, and even architecture.   Lori’s work can be seen at The Dog Dish’s two locations, at the Farm Shopping Center and in the Brookside area in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
